A two-disc test bench is used for the defined investigation of the rolling contact using real roller bearing components. The mechanical design of the test bench is based on a two-disc tribometer. This test bench uses the inner rings of radial cylindrical roller bearings that are driven by independent servomotors at a maximum of 4000 rpm. Separate control of the motors permits variable configuration of the slippage values. Load application, maximum 10kN, is via an electrical unit consisting of a servo motor which is coupled with a spindle. Half of the lower roller runs in an oil bath during operation, thus promoting lubricant to the upper roller through inherent rotation during contact. The oil bath can also be brought to temperature by heating elements built-in to the test setup, maximum 110°C.
