Gregor Höpfner, M.Sc. studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University from 2012. In 2018 he completed the "Development and Construction" Master degree program. Mr. Höpfner has worked as a research assistant in the department of Systems Engineering – Modelling and Simulation since February 2018. Since 2020 he is team leader of the group Systems Modelling within the department.
In his research he first dealt with investigation and prediction of drive train dynamics and acoustics using both, simulation and measurement methods. Since 2019, he deals with developing a seamless, function-oriented product development process for mechatronic systems. His focus is the integration of complex simulation models and methods into functional system models to allow early stage design verification, using Model-Based Systems Engineering methods on parameter level. For this purpose he develops structured model libraries linking the Systems Modeling Language SysML with simulation tools and models automated simulation processes within these libraries.
In teaching, Mr. Höpfner is responsible for the topic gear durability in the subject Machine Design III.
