Vita

Markus Gilges M.Sc. RWTH studied mechanical engineering with a specialization in “development and design” at Niederrhein University of Applied Science in Krefeld, from 2012 to 2016. He completed his bachelor's thesis entitled "Development and design of a test bench for reduction gears of hydraulic traction engines" in cooperation with XCMG ERC GmbH. This was followed by a master's degree in “development and design” at RWTH Aachen University, which he successfully completed in October 2020. He wrote his master's thesis entitled "Experimental and model-based investigation of working pairs in adsorption chillers for sub-zero cooling " at the Chair of Technical Thermodynamics Aachen. During his student career, Mr. Gilges completed one semester at California State University Long Beach in the United States and another semester at Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Guadalajara in Mexico.

Since February 2021, Mr. Gilges has been working as a research associate at MSE in the bearing technology department. He is investigating the use of plain bearings in drive trains of icebreaker vessels.
