Mr. van Issum studied Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University from 2004 until 2012, specializing in Engineering and Design. At ThyssenKrupp Presta AG (Eschen, Liechtenstein) he wrote his Diploma Thesis about the “Generation of a Standard Requirement Specification for the Component Ball Screw and Derivation of a Standard Engineering Drawing”.
From 2012 until 2016, Mr. van Issum worked at Gates GmbH in Aachen as a Systems Engineer. Beside dealing with the validation and verification of timing drives and front end accessory drives (FEAD) of combustion engines, his position focused on the standardization of Design-FMEAs.
Since 2016, Mr. van Issum has been employed as research associate at the MSE (formerly ikt) in the Department of Systems Engineering – Process Development (formerly Virtual Product Development and Product Lifecycle Management), while his research mainly focuses on Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
