In the course " Konstruieren von Maschinen und Geräten", students have the opportunity to design products autonomously and under professional guidance. The experience will be particularly exciting due to a real task from an industrial application. In the process of the course a technical solution in the form of a product is to be designed for an industrial partner. For this purpose, methods and aids of design theory are taught in lectures and exercises and applied directly in the project. Students experience the challenges of real product development and design beyond the usual theory of lecture and exercise and are excellently prepared for later work in industry.

For the first time, during the summer and winter semesters of 2019, students will be able to choose from several parallel projects following a joint lecture series. These are organised in cooperation with the PEM and IFAS.

The MSE project focuses on the development of innovative technical solutions for food preparation in cooperation with VORWERK. The main topics of this project are:

  • agile product development
  • product planning and innovation
  • prototyping and testing
  • evaluation and selection of qualified technologies and design solutions

    The PEM project involves the development of an electric vehicle in cooperation with a start-up company. The main topics of this project are:
  • requirements and conception
  • chassis design
  • dimensioning electrical drive train
  • validation of prototypes

IFAS is also participating in the event for the first time. In cooperation with Linde Hydraulics, the valve control of next-generation mobile machines is being developed. The topic covers the points:

  • circuit design
  • control and mechatronics
  • constructive implementation of a valve section

The course can be taken for one semester or two semesters. The project covers both semesters. Each semester there is an individual examination and grading. For a complete project experience it is recommended to take both semesters, but it is not a prerequisite to participate successfully.
