Diego Armando Aguirre Guerrero, M. Sc. RWTH, studied mechanical engineering at the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia until 2009. He focused on "materials engineering" and "the tribological behavior of cane sugar mills." Subsequently, Mr. Aguirre Guerrero worked as a process quality inspector and supervisor of the maintenance department at the automotive supplier Fanalca S.A. in Cali.

In the period from 2016 to 2021, he completed the master's degree in "Automotive Engineering" at RWTH Aachen University with his master's thesis at the Institute of Machine Elements and System Development (MSE) on "Development of a numerical method to identify the optimal manufacturing process in TFP for the production of FRP components with the optimized reinforcement fiber path".

Since March 2022, Mr. Aguirre Guerrero has joined MSE as a research associate in the department of Systems Engineering - Design Methodology. His research interests include the connection of design and manufacturing processes in the context of model-based systems engineering.
