You can also take part – anyone can participate in the event, even if they have not graduated yet!

RWTH students and employees can help at the event!

We're tossing our graduation caps on September 14, 2019! All individuals, who have successfully completed their studies or doctoral studies in the 2018 summer semester or 2018/2019 winter semester, are invited to the large inter-faculty graduation celebration at RWTH Aachen. The celebration is an open air event at the Aachen Laurensberger Rennverein dressage stadium. We expect around 5,000 visitors – you can expect a celebratory and entertaining program.

If you are interested is helping at this special event, you can be involved as a volunteer. We still need many helping hands in various areas.

Your help is needed at the ARLV dressage stadium on the CHIO grounds, Albert-Servais-Allee, Aachen.

The earliest volunteer slot begins at the day of the event on Saturday 14, September 2019, at 7am and the latest one ends at 6:30pm. However the time slot and duration depend on the area in which you volunteer.

There will be two short safety training sessions the day before the Graduation Celebration on Friday, September 13, 2019. The first starts at 1pm, the second at 4:30pm. All volunteers will also receive special training for their specific area.

 

Areas of Responsibility

Six assistants for directing/program

Responsibilities:

  • Support to ensure the program runs smoothly
  • Ensuring individual artists' and group' contributions are smoothly included

Requirements:

  • Fun working with different artists and groups
  • A keen sense of timing
  • Similar previous experience appreciated

Ten people to help seat graduates and guests inside the stadium

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with ordinance personnel
  • Supporting guests with finding their seats
  • Contact person for questions

Requirements:

  • Fun addressing and working with partially physically-restricted individuals
  • Sense of direction and orientation
  • Flexibility
  • Skills in organisation and planning

Six volunteers for miscellaneous reponsibilities, one of them should be an early bird

Responsibilities:

  • Help with various tasks on site
  • Messengers, providing information

Requirements:

  • Fun working in a team
  • Fun addressing and working with people
  • Ability to quickly grasp things
  • Physical fitness

Eight transportation aids

Responsibilities:

  • Transport of materials and packages in the event tents with pallet trucks or dollies
  • Placing individual materials in designated locations

Requirements:

  • Physical fitness
  • Work with tools such as pallet trucks, dollies, et cetera

Six volunteers for disassembly

Responsibilities:

  • You support the organisation team in dismantling and returning materials

Requirements:

  • Fun addressing and working with people
  • Physical fitness

Ten volunteers to help distribute the caps and sashes

Responsibilities:

  • Distribution of caps and sashes to graduates

Requirements:

  • Fun working in a team
  • Fun addressing and working with people
  • Speed

Four volunteers to help with distribution of drinks for the graduates (Early and late shift)

Responsibilities:

  • You assist the caterer distribute the gifts and drinks for the graduates.

Requirements:

  • Fun addressing and working with people
  • Flexibility in spontaneous situations

22 volunteers to help line up the graduates

Responsibilities:

  • Contact person for a particular faculty
  • Organizing the graduates by faculty
  • Accompanying the graduates by faculty when entering
  • Helping graduates find their seats

Requirements:

  • Fun working in a team
  • Fun addressing and working with people
  • Flexibility in spontaneous situations

Two volunteers to help with wardrobe and admitting artists

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the wardrobe
  • contact person for artists

Requirements:

  • Fun addressing and working with people
  • Flexibility in spontaneous situations

Six volunteers to set up and take down the sponsor booths and stands

Responsibilities:

  • You support sponsors with setting up their stands
  • Transport of materials to the event tents
  • Placing individual materials in the required places

Requirements:

  • Physical fitness
