Content

The objective of the "Machine Design Process" course is to impart basic knowledge for the methodological solution of constructive tasks and to give students the ability to communicate this knowledge via standardized representation in technical drawings. This will involve attaining a fundamental knowledge of common machine elements and conventional machining processes.

Organization

The first part of the course and practical exercise series includes the systematic conception, development and design of new technical products. Subsequently, the second part of the course imparts fundamental knowledge of machine elements and their standardized technical presentation. Practical exercises consolidate the lecture topics. The purpose is to promote an understanding of product development given restrictions and functional aspects.

  • Course location and dates can be found in the RWTHmoodle study portal for the current semester.
  • The lecture and practical exercise documents are also available digitally in the study portal.
  • The written exam lasts for 120 minutes.
  • Reference works used during the lectures and practical exercises are the "Hoischen" or "Technisches Zeichnen (Technical Drafting)". There are no further lecture notes in addition to the lecture and practical exercise documents.
