Motivation

The rising demand for customized solutions requires new production systems to be in a position to respond to changes in a highly flexible but at the same time cost-effective manner. Key factors for this are agility, flexibility and speed of innovation.

Research objectives:

Our research focus is on systematic combination of different production methods for simultaneous workpiece machining or the integration of these into a workspace. This should result in a reduction of downtimes and the exploitation of synergies in relation to process and product characteristics. The functional analysis of established technology chains is to reveal synergy potentials in the machine combination. The following objectives will be pursued:

  • Productivity increases by merging redundant or similar processes.
  • Interactions resulting from integration of the different procedures must be systematically included in the planning and design.
