Congratulations on the Schaeffler Innovation Award, Gero Burghardt!


The Schaeffler FAG Foundation presents the Innovation Award to scientists for their pioneering work in the field of bearing technology. At the virtual award ceremony on September 3 from Schaeffler's Schweinfurt location, Andreas Hamann, Head of Human Resources Europe and Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Directors, and Dr. Michael Pausch, Head of Research and Development at Schaeffler Industrial, honored award winner and former MSE colleague Gero Burghard, among others. Gero Burghardt was able to systematically demonstrate and describe two basic types of boundary layer for the first time in his doctoral thesis "Effect of tribological boundary layers in rolling bearings under mixed friction", which was awarded 7,000 euros and was written at RWTH Aachen University, Institute for Machine Elements and Systems Engineering.
