German Society for Tribology awards price for best talk to Dennis Fischer and „Comparison of formation of lubricating films inside ball/disc contact of oil- and fat-greased EHD contacts”
Each year, the audience at the German Tribology Conference votes for the best talk given while taking into consideration both scientific achievement and style of presentation. In September of 2017 Mr. Fischer won the majority of the audience’s votes and was awarded the prize for best talk at this year’s GfT conference.
Dennis Fischer has been working as a Research Assistant at the Institute for Machine Elements and Systems Engineering (MSE) since 2016 while focusing on the formation of lubricating films in fat-greased rolling contacts. “Quite a number of listeners attended my talk”, Fischer remembers, “which shows that the topic is of great importance to the industry. I am very happy about receiving this award as it reflects interest in and recognition of my work. Moreover, it expresses the successful cooperation between students, colleagues as well as superiors at our institute.”
Since approximately 90 % of all rolling bearings are grease-lubricated, the subject of lubricating film formation within grease-lubricated rolling contacts is relevant to nearly all rolling bearing applications. Therefore, Mr. Fischer aspires to earn his PhD in this subject and underlines: "The positive feedback motivates me to further my research regarding the influences on lubricant film formation within grease-lubricated rolling contacts and to write my dissertation on this subject".
