Product development is facing a paradigm shift. Over the past two days, the Systems Engineering Congress 2022 has provided a comprehensive overview of the upcoming change and its challenges. We look back on outstanding and inspiring contributions to highly relevant topics, including Transformation towards Digital Engineering, Modelling Sustainability, Model-based Systems Engineering and Architecting Complex Systems.

On the second day of the event, fascinating lectures on modelling sustainability took place using examples from the chemical industry and the construction industry. Many thanks to the contributions of Dr. Rupert Schnell from Evonik and Prof. Dr. Marzia Traverso from the Institute for Sustainability in Civil Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. This was followed by an inspiring panel discussion on "Future Sustainable Engineering – How to?". Many thanks to Jennifer Dreier, Christian Fenselau, Daniel Löwen and Matthias Radny. In the afternoon, Prof. Dr. Günther Schuh opened and guided through the thematic block Architecting Complex Systems. Many thanks to his contribution and to the contributions of PhD Johann Fischer and Andreas Korff. At the same time, lectures by Prof. Dr. Christian Brecher, Wolfgang Pelzer and Dr. Christian Scheifele on the overarching topic of Development and Production Co-Engineering, inspired. Christian Heise concluded the second day of the event with its captivating outlook on the future digital economy.

We would like to thank our speakers, the more than 200 participants and the Campus Forum at the RWTH Aachen Campus, who made this digital event technically possible. Many thanks also to Marcel Klein and Louisa Melzow who moderated the two-day congress.

We would also like to thank our congress partners, including itemis AGCONTACT SoftwareSynera (formerly known as ELISE) and Complexity Management Academy.
